In the wake of being on the run for about a year, the National Investigation Agency on Saturday captured Ranjit Singh, a "famous narco-terrorist", from Sirsa as he was going about as a course of Pakistan-based terror bunches in driving drugs into India, the returns of which were utilized for terror exercises.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), along with the Punjab and Haryana police captured Singh moniker Cheeta, an inhabitant of Amritsar, in an intelligence-based activity from Sirsa in Haryana, the agency said in an announcement.

The NIA had enrolled a case in June a year ago and recorded the primary charge sheet against 15 individuals, including Singh, and four organizations, in December that year.

The NIA representative, said in the announcement, that an investigation into a drug case had prompted the way that Pakistan-based terrorist associations were utilizing narcotics trade to create assets for terror exercises in India.

The returns of narcotic trade are moved to Kashmir valley through couriers and hawala channel for terror purposes, it said.

Singh is additionally the prime charged in the ongoing Hizbul Mujahideen terror financing module. The module was busted with the capture of Hilal Ahmad Wagay, an occupant of Nowgam, Awantipora of south Kashmir with Rs 29 lakh money, by Punjab Police in Amritsar in April this year.

This cash was being shipped to the Kashmir valley, which was to be given over to Reyaz Naikoo, supposed operational administrator of the terror gathering. Naikoo was as of late executed by security powers in his town in Kashmir's Pulwama locale.

The case was taken over by the NIA on Friday and investigations have started. 

Singh, along with co-charged Iqbal Singh, is the prime accused in the case identified with the seizure of 532 kg of heroin covered up in a transfer of rock salt imported from Pakistan.

The seizure was made by the traditions specialists at Attari on June 29 a year ago.

Investigation indicated that Pakistan-based elements were pirating opiates from Pakistan into the Indian region by concealing it in sacks of rock salt imported from the neighboring country.

This is done through a detailed system of merchants, customs house operators, transporters, and the activity is financed through unlawful international hawala channels.
